My Bayliner is not running well and running after I shut it off. I have bought some Seafoam and would like to know the best way to run it through the system ie. fuel tank or put it in the crank case or through the carb. Thanks!!

Re: Seafoam question

do NOT put it in the crankcase. how about first checking some things like timing, idle speed, fuel filters, spark plugs, last full tune up,...

Re: Seafoam question

I just got some of that stuff, it says to just add it to the tank ( 20 gallons for the can.)

I just found out that my rotor had rust on it, once I cleaned it up, the thing ran fine again. (I will wait till the end of the seson to get it tuned-up) There is another thread in this forum that said they put this seafoam in , and it helped the run-on.

You might want to do some reading on this site.
http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpConsumer.htm
It is OK in the oil, but that isn't likely to be where your problem is.
I would sure try it. It has worked for me when I forgot to put fuel stabilizer in the gas in a motorcycle. It took a couple of tankfuls, but it did work. IMO, great stuff.
BTW, it also works as an offseason gas stabilizer.

Re: Seafoam question

I was at a Technician course last spring and the orginizers had a rep from the seafoam company do a 1 hr show and tell on this product. He gaurantee's it will fix pretty well any problem due to fuel or oil related misfourtunes! He recommended addition to the fuel tank, oil sump, and added directly to the carb while the engine is running. He handed out some samples bottles spray etc. I tried this stuff out on some engines that I have really mistreated and I have to say it does work as advertised. I would definatly add it to your engine, it won't hurt atleast! I've been looking for this stuff scince and can't find it.
