Well, these Suzuki carbs get clogged so easy. I recently used a product called Seafoam in my truck to clean out the carbon deposits and it says on the bottle it can be used on outboards. Says on the bottle just inject it into the carb, but doesn't say how much. With the truck I just put it in until it stalled. Has anyone tried the Seafoam treatment on their outboard? How did you do it? I specifically want those carbs to be cleaned without yanking them off again.

any help would be greatly appreciated!
Charlie

Re: SEAFOAM

Seafoam will not clean your carbs, nor will any other spray in treatment.

Gotta pull them.

Adding a product like Stabil to your fuel and installing a water seperating fuel filter can also help keep them clean.

Good luck. :)

Re: SEAFOAM

Thanks for the replies. The only reason I thought it might help with the carbs is that I just got pulled and cleaned. I have a new fuel filter and fuel/water separator, but the tank is still not clean I don't think. Just thought it may help with the smaller pieces getting clogged in the jets.

Thanks!
charlie

Re: SEAFOAM

If you just put in new filters, then I would be looking elsewhere for the problem. The filters really are effective in removing the small particles. Maybe you still have junk in the float bowl area that is coming loose. Seafoam has a product in a spray can (deep creep) that works well, but I think I would try something like the Chevron Techron, it may have something than disolve the junk. I use the Techron in all my vehicles when the idle starts getting a little rough and it really cleans the injectors.
But like DJ says, the only real way to clean carbs is removal.

Re: SEAFOAM

Sea Foam in the fuel has helped me "postpone" cleaning for a while. With fuel tank low I have mixed a strong concentration and run it hard producing some satisfactory results. But eventually there is only one way to get it all out of the carbs...imersion in the appropriate carb cleaner and a good blow out with air.
