Thought I would share some photos of eating out in Korea.
Seafood is eaten raw in a lot of cases. The tanks in the following photos are what you walk past on your way in to the restaurant. Choose your fish, weigh it and 5 minutes later it is chopstick size fillets on a platter. If it comes out of the ocean it is eaten !!!

I have done sushi and very fresh oysters a few times and a couple of gold fish (story for another time)
But I think I would prefer a few grill marks on my fishey's. :D

Nice. I absolutely love sushi, raw oysters, raw prawn etc.

We sometimes go to oyster bars during happy hour for "buck a shuck" raw oysters on the half shell.

Delicious!

I've done raw oysters and yellow fin sushi but have to admit I think I would have to be raised there to totally enjoy everything they have to offer.

I love Korean food. Most people don't know about Korean Bbq like Bulgogi, etc.

As for the seafood I'm sure it's super fresh as well.

Re: Seafood in Korea.

Making me hungry. There really are some great foods over there (Asia, I mean), for those adventurous enough to try them. Living in Japan, I have had some GREAT things, and some that aren't quite so good.
I've had horse sashimi quite a few times. It's good, but I don't think raw helps it much. I prefer my horse cooked, but it isn't bad raw. My kids (4 & 7) eat it too.
The worst thing though had to be some kind of jelly/paste that I tried. Had no idea what it was and it left a taste in my mouth for hours. Found out later that it was squid, blended up (uncleaned, guts and everything) and left to ferment, then packaged in a jar. For sure an acquired taste that I have no intention of ever acquiring. Natto is a close second though.

Did you see anyone swallows a whole live octopus Ken? I'm never going to be brave enough to do that.

Re: Seafood in Korea.

I spent a total of three years there and, while it looks good, I don't know if I could eat anything that came from the water there. Especially uncooked.

Sorry if I missed it in another thread.

What brings you to Korea?

I go about 3 times a year on business. Bottom line is that when we get a package of business from Japan or Korea from their auto manufacturers we have to have a certain percentage built in the manufacturers country. Hyundai and Kia business = some tooling built there. Toyota, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Honda etc = some tooling built there as well. About 80% is usually built in North America. All tooling is run in North America and supplies the Korean and Japanese auto plants with components and assemblies.
Love the Soju !!!:D

Yes the Soju can be dangerous !!!!!
Last trip was the first time I drove there. Rented a car with an English speaking GPS. Hyundai Avante (Elantra over here) now that was fun !!!:D
