I too had trouble getting the seals out. I went and got one of these sets from the link below and used the attachment that uses the long "L" pieces. Put the "L"s through the center hole of the seal and screw down the puller shaft so it expands the two "L"s outward then start slide hammering. It'll come out this way after some hammering.

HI elh. Slide hamers are great options as are good old fashioned, automotive oil seal pullers. Although, I've had to manually snip, clip and chip several stubborn old seals out of place before too. Either way, just be sure not to damage the soft aluminum housings too much. Here are some great links that can walk you through the whole job. You can even get a reseal kit right here at iboats for about $25. You'll also need a tube of 3M 847, or similar gasket compound such as Permatex Ultra Black, as well. Good luck. Holler if you get stuck.

The automotive oil seal puller mentioned will work for the prop shaft seal, and the drive shaft seal. As mentioned, Ill say again, careful what you rest the tool on while prying, that pot metal breaks very easily.

For the shift rod seal, you will need to fashion your own tool to drive the bushing out.
