The manual calls for a 1000 sealer to be used on the housing. Are there any suitable substitutes? This is on an 82 Evinrude 60hp outboard.

Cal
I've asked the same questions and replies favored using the OMC gasket sealer. Any OMC dealer should have it or you can purchase online at theoutboardwizard. (Please no links. You can post the company and get the folks in the right direction but please do not post links. Thanks) Call Ralph at the 800 # and he'll overnite ya some if you're in a hurry.
Good luck
PS Check to see if you have the triple guard grease and the adhesive too. He has it all in stock.

Sealer 1000 can be purchased at a marine dealer as it is distributed by Boat Armour.

It is also available thru the auto body industry as 3M #847 rubber and gasket adhesive.
