I was going to put sealer around the (new) pool but my pool guy says that would make it hotter. Never heard that. Anyone know about this?

Re: sealing concrete

If you look for a low solid content sealer, I would doubt that it would make it hotter. It also would not make it any more slippery. A high solid content would. Check out ProSoCo's website PROSOCO, Inc.

Re: sealing concrete

I used high solids on our exposed aggregate concrete. Two coats in fact.

If it's any hotter now than before, you would need a thermometer to provide. It's certain not noticeable underfoot

Re: sealing concrete

Your pool guy may think that evaporation of ground water through the concrete around the pool assists in cooling the pool.

I doubt it.

Sealing the concrete may help protect the surface from water within the surface freezing in cold weather and flaking the surface. Like the Qwap mix the original owner used when pouring my front porch. It's beyond repair, needs total break-up, removal and start all over.
