Hi All,
Happy Fathers day to all the real dads,
I'm new to this site, and I need some advice.

I want to mount my engine to the transom,
I want to seal the bolt holes, and the plate, as you see in pics.
What kind of caulking, or silicone do I use.
I don't want to spend $30 a tube, I want to spend like $10 a tube max.
Is there something I can get at home depot or somewhere that will work?
I live in Windsor Ontario Canada, so everything is more expensive than in the states.
Also, in the pics, you can see the aluminum rail, its all bent. I want to replace it, but with what?
cant find anything like that around. does anyone have any suggestions please.
Thanks in advance for the help.

You need to post three times before the site will let you upload pics. So post a couple more times or use a third party site and link back here.

As for sealers, Merc does not recommend any sealers to seal the transom. If your transom is flat and true, and your using a new transom gasket then that's all you need. You could put something in the bolts holes to keep moisture out, but if you prime and paint the holes with some good epoxy paint, that would be great.

Welcome to iboats.

We really need to see the transom to know what is being sealed.
Never use silicone on a boat.
Will not hold a seal and remain waterproof.
Use a eurathane sealant like 3m 4200 or Atwood 4200.
Will cure quicker if you use 7200.
Will continue curing after it gets in the water.
Yes, it is going to cost you money.
$30 for a 10 ounce tube.
But you should only need a small 3 ounce tube to mount an engine.
Use 4200 for the bolt holes.

Fix, repair, or replace all rotting wood before sealing it up.

Or use a butyl rubber sealant in some cases.
Eventually it will cure to be like a rubber band, but it may take weeks.
