Can't modify my transducer mount to fit the new one for my HD downimaging setup. This will leave me with a couple of holes in the transom. What's the best way to fill the old holes so I get zero leaks forever? BTW it's on a Tracker aluminum hull.

cold weld it shut if its aluminum. can grind it smooth afterwards but obviosuly the paint in that section will be gone so you have to touch it up

JB Weld. Be careful with the fill and you'll have little if any finish work ... ;)

I filled mine with JB Weld and put little squares of aluminum flashing on the inside which gave it a bit of a backer so when I sanded the exterior flush, the plugs didn't "pop". Seems to have worked well.

Solid rivets or bolts, with 5200, then install a piece of HPDE, and then fasten transducers to it in the future, instead of the hull itself.

HDPE is high density polyethylene

A cutting board works well. I picked up a big one at Sams Club for $10 that I use for "boat stuff" and my jon boat transducer plate, it doesn't have UV stabailzers in it though. Starboard is a UV protected marine plastic, but it's spendy. I used Starboard for the transducer plate on my 18'er, because I didn't want going south in 5 years.

(I had a HDPE part break after 5+ years of sun exposure)

How much will the local Welder cost ya to deal with this ? ..

Just wondering because the last time I went into my local with a simple weld at the end of the day he said " hold this..hold that" bingo bango he was done in 10 min and told me to go home without even asking for money..

I came back with a 24 pk the next day of course ;) ..

YD.
