Re: searay bimini top

In the process of buying this boat, if did the previous owner not walk you thru or around some of the boats quirks, then this is the right forum.
On my bimini, there are nylon straps that adjust in length for the front and rear mounts mounts.
I can adjust the bimini from front or back to adjust the angle slightly.
Not having seen your boat, could you go into more detail about the rubber strap and where it mounts.
Is this the only mount in that area?
Can you attach the front first and then work back?
Or is this the camper top and not the bimini?

It is the cabin crusier cover..it attaches to the front windsheild and side windows with this rubber system then it attaches to the actual bimini top by zippers. It is the area that attaches the window with the rubber system I am unable to do. In process of buying boat from a broker so therefore haven't met the prior owners.

This rubber system - something like a c channel that the rubber/clasp slides into.
There are usually steel or aluminum cross braces or bars. On my boat's camper top, everything is the snap design save for the front and rear canvas that joins by zipper. When it is so tight that I cannot even join the zippers, I can move the bars forward slightly (about 3 inches) at the base and then tighten the base. This lowers the top a couple of inches and drops the tension in the canvas. I can then easily join the halves. THen I adjust the steel frame base backwards slightly and the top is tight with no flaping. I can then attach the side windows/curtains and all the snaps line up too!
If this doesn't give you any ideas or sound similar to your set up, do you have a digital camera or a scanner to send regular photos.
I am sure someone here will have the answer to a picture!

Hi Mike43, I have a 01 180 Br with the sunbrella canvas. If it is the same as mine, the rubber actually gets squeezed into the track along the top of the windshield. While standing in the front of the boat looking back at the windshield, it will slip up into the channel on top and then with pressure should snap in at the bottom. They say you can use some lube to help it in if you can't get it in.
