Good morning.
I'm about to buy my first larger daycruiser and I'm having trouble deciding which one to pick.
One's a 1976 Searay SRV220 Cuddy Cabin (the open day cruiser) with a 1992 5,7 carbed Mercruiser and Alpha One outdrive and a stainless 5-blade prop. Original avoinics and options like search lights. Wood work is nice and I get a good feel for the boat.
Other's a 1979 Crestliner 2455 Crusader (also open day cruiser) with a 7,4 carbed Mercruiser and Alpha One outdrive (unknown year) and a plain 3-blade prop. All original interior (long hairy fur in the bow compartment...) and it needs some refurbishing to be more than just decent. Avionics is original.
The Searay seem to be a higher quality build than the Crestliner although I can't really say why I feel that. Perhaps it's the additional wood on the Searay that the Crestliner doesn't have that gives that impression.
They are equally priced.
General quality and hull design is important as is overall engine/outdrive reliability (5,7 or 7,4 in general terms).
Please give me some guidance here...
