Sears & Roebuck Elgin 5.0 hp coils?

Does anyone know of a place to get coils for this motor?<br />It ran like a new one 8 years ago,but the coils have dried and cracked and fell apart over the 8 year sitting spell.<br /><br />Model # 571 58571<br />Serial # 571 10715<br /><br />I would also like to know the year too,I'm guessing around a 1953?<br /><br />Thanks for the help,<br />Tony

My info indicates 54 or 55.<br /> Built by West Bend so West Bend parts will work as well.Try Laings at: outboard :www.laingsoutboards.com<br /> also you could watch ebay for parts and parts motors.

Hey thanks for the help,<br />I called Laings last week, but will have to try again this week,I caught them on vacation, so there message stated.<br /><br />Well I wasn't far off on the year,I was told by someone that Sears could still get you parts for some motor's, but I haven't tried them yet.<br />Thanks again,<br />Tony

Well I got in touch with them,but they were 50 bucks a piece for the coil's.<br />Looks like I won't see this motor running on my boat again.
