I just recovered the seats that came with my queen merrie project (not original I believe) and need to figure out how high the bases sound be. What's the average seat height? I'm most comfortable with 24" to the top of my cushion but I realize most purple people have shorter legs than me. I'm 6'4" barefoot so 6-5 or 6-6 depending on footwear. What i was thinking of was building bases at 24"and maybe making foot platforms for the 3 passenger seats to put them at a comfortable level. Oh they're non lounging back to back seats

Whatever is most comfortable for you is the correct seat height. However, if you were to take a random sampling of standard chair heights, I think you would be surprised to see seat heights a heck of a lot lower then 22" to 24". Most are about 16" to 18". But again, this is your boat and whatever fits your situation is the correct height...

I made one at 25" which was most comfortable with me but found out it was a lot higher than my controls and steering wheel. I hacked the bottom off so it's now 19.5"/18" compressed.

The 'new' helm seat I just built and put in on my boat ended up at about 22" (compressed) with me sitting on it to drive. I always felt the factory seat was too low for me, and I'm 6'3" tall so we're similar... it felt awkward and uncomfortable originally, but time will tell as it feels foreign now.. that 2-3" height difference is noticable... What I found is take a rough measurement from your feet to the back of your knee and go for that hight, seams to have worked in my case

I also noticed if I had the seat at 25" my eyes would be well above the windshield frame. Wouldn't make for a good time taking dragonflies to the face.

I agree with gm280. I'd make em the way you want em. That's the beauty of doin it yerself. You can custom fit it to your liking. There is No Right or Wrong way. Make it fit you.

Standard adult chair height is 18". A foot rest would help others that are not quite as tall as you (or I).
