Hi guy's

as my resto is at the end ( wohoo ) never thought I would get here :D

Just as a reminder it's an 18 feet bowrider that will be used mainly for fishing

I would like to build two plywood box's for storage then mount a couple of swivel seats on them !
( so far pretty simple )

I would like them to be adjustable for height as well ( this is where I need creativity )

I need to go from 6 inches to 12 kinda quickly
do they make small adjustable pedestals ?

sure theres adjustable pedastals..a little pricey but not too bad...

You would have to mount the floor of your storage to the pedastal to get what you want..HOWEVER i would question the integrity of such a set up..

You would also have some sharp corners right about shin to thigh high...I can see getting banged & bruised really easy

Good Luck

You could make your own with aluminum or stainless tubing and a pin.

I just ordered two of the above pedestals, so if you have some time to wait, I can report how easy it will be to lower them to 6" (likely involving a hack saw)

Sorry for the late reply on this, the pedestals were on backorder and are finally in the mail. I'll reply once I get them (hopefully monday).

Re: Seat question or Idea ???

An update on the seat bases. I got shipped two aluminum tubes instead of the seat bases, when calling asking what was up, they said their web site had the wrong item and that was what I ordered. They then told me if I ship them back I would get a refund or else it would be $150 more per seat base to get the right item.

Not even an "Oh, sorry for the trouble and having you wait A MONTH for the wrong item", nothing. Like somehow it was my fault for ordering from their website.

Scratch go2marine.com off my list of places to buy.. anything.

I have a good place for them to shove these aluminum tubes..

Sorry about your experience... I'll certainly be sure not to order from them...

As for your problem... I have some great spring lock pedastals on my boat (think I ordered from Cabelas) that are "hydrolic" adjustable cylinders... The problem is I don't think you'll ever find anything like that in a 6-12" range... Most likely the minimum will probably be like a 12-20" range....

Have you considered using a 12-20" but instead of putting the pedestal on TOP the box have it extend THROUGH the box? I realize it will cut down on being able to store large items in the box, but could still be pretty usable I'd think???

Re: Seat question or Idea ???

i bet you could make what you want from cheap generic hardware. I'm imagining a flat square 1/8" thick metal base, with a hole for a screw in each corner and a threaded receptacle in the middle, that is maybe 1.5" diameter and 2" high.

you could then screw threaded pipe into that, and your swivel mount onto another 'base' at the top. if the base's receptacle is a through hole, then you put a nut on before you screw the pipe into the base. When you screw your pipe further down or back it out to adjust the seat height you could tighten the nut against the base to keep that position. if there isn't a through hole you could just buy a 6" pipe and a 12" pipe and switch back and forth.

did that make any sense lol?

just a small idea with extremly easy adjusting, normally you can find old broken office/desk chairs on the curb, use the height adjuster from them, and BAM! you have a 'custom' easily adjustable seat:D
