Hello , newbie here . i just bought a 20' fiberglass boat ( noy sure of make or model ) 1970 is all iknow . I'm restoring the interior fo the boat . the question ihave is I have two really nice bucket seats from a van & thought about using them in the boat . somebody told me i cant use them they have to be marine seats . is this true & if so why ?

Your van seats will soak up water like a sponge, then they will probably start rotting before they get dried out.

Skippy - It is your boat & you can do anything you like - Roscoe is right though and the metal parts will rust quickly.

Thanx guys, thats what i thought but wasn't sure . I checked all the ny rules & regulations & couldn't find anything about seating requirements. so i asked here . you guys have been a big help, thanx again. :D
