Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving. I am starting the move into the new house - still a lot to do, but hunting season starts Monday, so what are you gonna do? Gotta get moved before Monday! Computer will be down for a while. Then it is time to get some meat for the freezer - have 3 doe tags and a buck tag - sounds like it will be a fun time. Seeing a lot of big buck and a bunch of doe. Should have fresh meat soon! Will tell you all about it next week!

Again, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Re: See you next week!

The gang did okay, but I haven't fired a shot yet. One of the saddest stories comes from a father and son (16 year old) team. The father shot a nice 8 point and the sun hit an even larger deer, about a 12 pointer. The deer fell and was trashing behind a log. The son readied for another shot, but the father told him to wait, the deer was already dead. All teens have a hard time listening to adults, this one was no exception, but in the end, he obeyed, and watched his buck jump up and take off - very little blood and no luck finding him! So much for listening to the old man!

As for the house, all the boxes are moved, and we are almost settled. Man, there was/is a lot to move! Hopefully I can get most of it all taken care of this week and then in the next 2 weeks I can get the outside of the house finished!

Aspeck...Glad to hear your in the new abode. One thing I would like to pass on to you is, You don't need whatever is still in a box after one year..just throw the box out without looking in it. Sounds stupid but a lot of truth in it and odds are you'll still have a few unpacked boxes after a year.

Good luck with the remainder of the hunt!!! ;)

Re: See you next week!

One more day of the hunt left - 30 tags filled and 12 more to go (12 of us hunting together). Only have the "Big" buck tags left. Saw a bunch of them before season, but they are being scarce now. Plenty of meat in the freezer and a lot of fun, so if no big buck this afternoon or tomorrow, no problemo.

Gotta go, daylight is wasting.

Re: See you next week!

Season is over, lots of deer, but no big buck this year. Quite hunting early on Saturday because we had an activity at the church in the evening and had to get ready for it. I pulled into the church parking lot at 3:30 and there were 3 deer in the back of the yard. I grabbed my gun and a handful of shells and went in chase. They were all doe, could have shot, but wasn't going for a doe at that time. Looked up and there was another deer - a small 6 point, legal game. Thought about it, but wasn't sure I wanted to shoot one that small with the evening presentation looming. Then, in the corner of my scope was movement, the big 8 pointer I had been watching before season. Unfortunately he heard me loading the gun! Saw him one more time before he was gone. In 20 minutes could have shot the 6 point and about 7 doe, but the one I wanted got away.

That is what makes hunting great - the stories. Rifle season is over, may get another chance at the big guy after Christmas, in primative muzzleloader season (flintlock only). Then, it will be back to Ghana in January.
