We're planning a trip this summer on our 19 foot Maxum from Seattle to the San Juan islands. Surprisingly, I'm having some difficulty finding advice on this route. Has anyone done this trip on a small boat and able to offer some advise to a greatly appreciative listener? :) Specifically, is there a particularly good time of day to go? Specific route we should take? Specific sights we should be sure not to miss? Any additional sage wisdom?

Hey Maxk, welcome to iboats. In-laws used to live on one of the islands there (an indian reservation, i believe) and I've seen loads of pics...what a beautiful area you have there. I certainly can't provide any real assistance except to note that the tides in that area are pretty extreme by my conditions here, so I'm sure you'll be watching those!

Take half as many clothes, twice as much money and have a great trip....and don't forget to posts pics and vids when you get back!

Hi,
What a fantastic Cruising area. We hauled our Boat up from Los Angeles last year. Had a great time.
You might want to look at: http://www.classicboatclub.com/ It's a Club in the area. We met up with them on one of their outings. A friendly group of helpful people. They gave us good advice on things to see & do.

PS My Avatar picture was taken last year by one of those helpful individuals. I'm sure you know that's Mt Rainier in the background. It's a one in a million shot.
