Went to take off housing last year and couldn't loosen bolts. Really don't want to bust them off, anybody ever have this problem or know what I can try that will put force on bolt with least risk of busting it. Tried WD-40, that is about it so far.

HEAT...HEAT....HEAT....BUT ! Dont heat around the bolt like you think, Heat the BOLT !! The head of it...then when its Hot, Tap the Head of the bolt and Vibrate it. Wait a little till it cools back off and gently try and Move the bolts...see if that works.

Bagging and Tapping on the bolt head can cause it to jar loose.

ALWAYS remember to use Ani-sieze Compound and Stainless Bolts when you replace it. Next time they will walk right out !

You might as well use water as to use WD40 as a penetrant. Get something serious like Liquid Wrench or PB blaster. Once you have liberally applied it start by rapping on the bolt using a drift punch. That will help break loose the rust holding the bolt. You may have to apply and rap numerous times over several days before they let loose.

Also, if you have a propane torch and can carefully apply heat, just to the bolt head then quench with cold water, the expansion and contraction will aid in loosening the bolts.

Sometimes patience is the key.

impact-gun is your friend.

Low setting normally vibes anything loose.

AS John said heat and taping bolts works.
Propane is not hot enought.
Acetylene and oxygen torch will work
great. If not available - napp gas and oxygen
torch kit with small cylinders are avaiable
from any Home Depot for about $40.

Take your time reheat and quench 5-6 times.
An impack may break bolts - $40 bucks will
then sound cheap.

wd-40 is worthless for anything.
