I have this minature speed boat about 8 ft 6 any ideas how i could make it a b it longer and slightly more buyont espesially in the rear it is a lot of fun but i want to make it accept a slightly heavier engine and hold itself a few in ches higher above the water line ,while keeping it safe , i was thinking about fiberglassing some foam blocks at the rear , any one have any suggestions ? The engine i want is about 20 lbs more than my current model.:d

When I was a kid my uncle had an old plywood boat that he did something like you describe. He built some boxes that extended past the motor on each side. There is a name for them but it escapes me.... made it look pretty cool, like a racing boat.
