Self etching primer vs primer

I will be using self etching primer on the bare spots of my previously painted aluminum boat. Can I use regular RustOleum primer over the self etching primer after it dries? Is RustOleum Aluminum primer the same as self etching primer?

Nope it's not the same. Use the SE primer and then use the RO Bare Metal Primer - 2 Coats. Check the last link in my signature below.

It may not be the same, but it works well. I used it on my boat over a year and a half ago and haven't had any problems.
