Does anyone know where I can get a self test horn kit as my boat has a morse control and no horn?

Re: Self test horn kit

The Morse control has nothing to do with the warning system, it is the instrument cable leading from the engine to the instrument/control center that handles that.

The self test type warning horn can be purchased at any Evinrude/Johnson dealership, and possibly other sources that I'm not aware of. It is a three wire horn, one black ground wire is a permanent wire, the other two being push on connections.

There should be a TAN wire leading out of the front of the instrument cable. That TAN wire would connect to the terminal closest to that black wire.

There will be a "A" terminal on the ignition switch (12v only when the key is ON). Run a wire from that terminal to the other push on terminal of the horn.

The black wire from the horn goes of course to a known ground.

Thanks, I know that the morse is just the shift and throttle control I just put that in there so no one thought I had a control box. I just looked under the console and saw what looks like an old horn. Thanks for the wiring info I will check to see if it is wired correctly

I thought that the Morse insert would be for that reason. To test the horn, have the key in the ON position (engine not running), then ground out the TAN overheat sensor wire that you'll find leading out of the cylinder head(s).

After moving to Fl in 1977, I just came back from NJ (visit to family - Millville). A cold damp, overcast week for me. I was glad to get back to Florida.

Yea seas are 9 to 12 feet today small craft advisory. I really want to go striper fishing but I think it would be like the perfect storm in my 19' aquasport. Good weather for the ducks :)
