We think of taking out a commercial striper license this year.Mostly because these week long fishing pilgrimages to Cape Cod cost us an arm and a leg.
Taking out the license is the easiest part. Now what is the procedure of selling the fish? Are there specific times when we have to be on the dock? Do we have to gut the fish?
In short how do we sell our fish?
Please help us learn before we have to learn the hard way.

In Wellfleet,MA, there are a lot of local fisherman who have a financial interest in keeping things honest. The local police acts accordingly

If you want to be legal, you should check with the local business regulators and health authorities on selling fresh fish, and what the specific requirements are.

If there are lots of other fisherman vendors on the docks, you might ask them. If there aren't others, that may be a clue that other legitimate vendors or stores might not take kindly to unregulated competition, and are likely to report violators at the drop of a hat. OTOH, the local regulated vendors might wish to purchase your fish for resale, at a discount, of course.

Re: selling fish

Thanks,PW.
I have no desire to act illegal,in fact I want to be legal.
All I want is to offset the trip expenses and maybe a nice meal in a restaurant.
I tried to call the fish mongers ,but they are still closed and probably will not open until the season starts.
