Re: Selling Online

Yes, Yamahaboy.

I have sold a couple of boats online. Both through website classifieds. Forums don't work well because your ad disappears into history too fast. Many (like this one) have so much traffic that it can happen in hours, and this one doesn't accept "for sale" postings.

The farther away your buyer is, the tougher it is to deal, because of the cost of transport.

It is far easier to do on a local basis, but if you need to expand your market iboats Classifieds work as well as any and better than most.

Good luck. :)

Re: Selling Online

There are a lot of boats for sale on eBay...in fact I bought a Sea-Doo on eBay in December. Most boaters won't buy sight-unseen, so you'll be dealing with a set of buyers within a certain geographic area...but that's OK because you're dealing with the same issues when advertising in a regional publication, etc.

Much depends on the size and value of the craft. I know many who have driven 300-400 miles for a good used boat worth $50,000, but that's a stretch for a $7000 boat. Check eBay, make sure you know the cost of selling that you'll owe if you're not successful, and also if you are. Good luck...and by the way...what are you selling?
