My engine is a 1980 Johnson 70 hp. The carbs have been rebuilt correctly( soaked overnight in carb cleaner all passages blown out and put back together with OMC kits). Compression is good 130, 130, 125. Spark on all three clyinders. But my engine will not run at all when follwoing the sync and link procedure in the Seloc manual. The engine will Idle with the cam follower sitting at the start line on the timing cam, but not the short line as the seloc manual says. Since I can,t get it to idle in the correct position I can,t go through the rest of the procedure. Any advice?

Thanks
Will Vaughan

Also my engine doesn't have the reed spacer shown in the breakdown in the seloc manual. I don't know if it is supposed to if it is that could affect the sync and link procedure by placing the carbs closer to the timing cam.

I got the cam roller adjusted to the short mark on the timing cam. The engine will bareley idle with the 3to 5 degrees timing the manual calls for it wants about 8 degrees to idle. with 3to 5 degrees it will not acelerate rev up just a little bit and then go dead.

Thanks
Will Vaughan
