Re: SENSOR 1972 JOHNSON 125HP

LostBoater.... It's always possible that you simply have a broken wire leading to the timer base that the sensor is attached to. However should you find that the sensor is absolutely faulty, contact me via ReevesJ32@aol.com as I have one left in stock. They've been unavailable since 1994 and have a list price of approximately $160.00 (whew!) but I'd discount that.

The flywheel puller can be found at most automotive parts type stores. You need one that incorporates bolts that can be screwed into those three threaded holes that you see surrounding the flywheel nut.

Also, when installing that flywheel and nut, make absolutlely certain that you torque it to exactly 105 foot pounds. Any less, you'll shear the flywheel key and damage the C/S and flywheel tapers. Any tighter and you stand the risk of spreading the flywheel taper.

Joe,

Would the ohm meter read zero if there was a wire separated? There is continuity just no resistance is my understading which is provded by the sensor. If I am totally off my rocker, please let me know. I will still have to pull the flywheel to check either way so I will start there. Thank you.

72 Money Pit

Re: SENSOR 1972 JOHNSON 125HP

LostBoater.... If one of the wires were broken that leads to the sensor, you would get no reading (no movement of the needle) at all. If the wires were okay, on high ohms, you would simply get a reading of total continuity. On low ohms, you would get a reading of approximately four (4) ohms.
