Ok all you guru's I need some pointers. OMC 1985 series 800 stringer, and I need to replace the water pump drive shaft as well as the upper drive shaft. It seems that the water pump housing seams frozen to the bearing housing preventing me from removing the upper drive shaft. An pointers on how to do break these two apart.

Thanks

Try tapping with a soft headed mallet, brass or lead head, or use a piece of brass or aluminum as a punch and drive the coverplate off.

Re: Separate Pump housing from the Bearing Housing

Am I crazy but it seams like (if new) the pump housing should just slip inside the bearing housing?

Did you put it there? It likely has a good sealer on it and it should be a tight fit
