Serial Number and Year model

Hi Guys. I am running twin 60 Hp Mariners. The serial numbers are in the 6497..... range. According to the website www.marinshopen.se the year model is 1984. These motors however are 3 cyl 2 carb. jobs. The same website (marinshopen) indicates that the 3 cyl 60 Hp only came out in 1988. Does it make sence ? A powerhead replacement maybe?

A powerhead replacement maybe?"<br /><br />I think your serial number starts with 64297 - if that is the case, then you engine is a 60 hp 3 cylinder 2 carb model. <br /><br />If the start of the serial number is 6497, I would have no idea what you have!<br /><br />The 60hp 3cyl engine has been around for quite some time, starting in 1983 and running through 1997.<br /><br />Good luck!

60 6429616 - 6497185 1983 <br />60 6497186 - A141064 1984 <br /> http://www.marinshopen.se/ <br /><br />Doesn't say how many cylinders this year/HP has.<br />So you can assume it's as above with 3 cylinders.
