serial numbers for a 1999 xr6 150

hello,<br />l have just recently purchased a used boat and motor and did not get much information on the outboard motor. What should be the letters on the serial number for a 150hp mercury xr6 outboard, year is suppose to be 1999 as l was told???? any help is appresiated.....<br />thank you
