Serial #'s year????

I read an answer from (Don.S) on a question about serial numbers and what year the running gear was built. It was the last 4 numbers of serial number to determine date built. Is this true with Mercruiser running gear? Im asking because I own a 1993 Bluewater boat with a 4.3LX Merc. The transom #0f090894 (aug 1994 ??), engine #0f068457, drive #0f102057. I e-mailed merc and he said it was 1993 running gear. Just checking to see if the transom is a 1994??? Thank You

That's supposed to be the Vin # for the Hull..........<br /><br />Mercruiser years are determined by the letter/#s in the Beginning of the serial #.........<br /><br />The Last few #s in the Mercruiser serial #s are Sequential,........

Basically Mercruiser (and Volvo for that matter) could care less about year. They go by their own serial number system. While the F could be translated to a year if you tried to, they are now in 0W range for drives and engines, so start counting from 0F and you will find it doesn't work out.<br />Merc numbers are Merc numbers they have used the same exact engine for several years, but the SN still changes.<br />Your engine, transom shield, and drive are all original and 1993. They are also installen in a 20' BlueWater with hull number BWY1D116C393. The boat originally was sold at Majors Sport Center in Vancouver WA.<br /><br /><br />

That works for hull numbers, but not for Mercuriser serial numbers. Look at your hull number. It was built in March 1993. (393)

Don.S, thank you for the information, You are right on the $. I'am trying to get all the info I can about these boats good & bad. Yes its the 20ft Mirage. Thank You very much!!!
