Re: Serious hull edge damage from concrete grinding.

Looking to buy a newer Four Winns with hull damage. It has serious hull edge wear from being washed up on concrete ramp or something it looks. Any advise or directions toward hull edge damage like this? Here is a link to a pic of the worst damage.

It is a rock lot. It is a salvage auction and there are 4-5 others sitting beside it. Probably was a boat on a lake in a slip that owner had no trailer and a storm broke it and others loose & washed on shore against boat ramp or something. Who knows. you should see the lower unit....

Unless you have allot of experience and very deep pockets I would say stay away.

Your last statement about the lower unit........ okay replacement lower units are $1500 +/- but dit it trash the transome or the motor mounts and support stringers?????

IMHO, if you really want some serious assessments from the experienced guys here on the forum, I'd recommend you take a lot more detailed pics from every conceivable angle, of the boat, so they can see what's up with it.

if your buying the boat for a planter with the hopes to sell off a few engine and drive parts, then go for it. if your looking to buy this to repair and go boating, as WOG stated, post at least a dozen pictures so everyone can comment on the whole package.

hi....

if that boat has been sitting out in the open.... you will need far more than just a glass and gell job on the outside.

you will need a trailer for the boat just to move it. count on 1-1.5k

then the exterior repairs will be approx 500 just to do what is in the picture.... but i know there is more.

if the deck, is soft... that is another 2k......

now... $hould we get that motor and drive running?

just something to think about...

cheers
