I just found the set screw loose on the little arm that comes out from under the fly wheel to the carb linkage.I can see that it has moved.is this timming?how do I set it? I guess that explanes why its been idleing so slow. ok,I just found on here that this screw is the idle adjustment screw.I just set it on muffs at about 1200 with the motor tilted all the way down.(idles higher tilted up) I will set it again when I go to lake. I just wanted to make sure it wont mess up anything by moving this screw... Hopeing some one will ease my mind! thanks!!!

Re: set screw loose

Is that set screw in a brass collar that slides on a rod leading from the thimer base to the carb throttle roller? THere's a lot of screws and bolts etc on those engines... you need to pinpoint what you're speaking of.

Also... is this a Ford 302 V8 or a outboard? :) It would help if you let us know what engine you're speaking of.
