I own a Fishmaster 2150 with a Suzuki 150 EFI. It has an 8" Detwiler Manual Jackplate and have the cavitation plate right level if not slightly higher thatn the bottom of the boat. Right now I'm running a 14.25-18 Stilleto Prop. I also have a 14.25-20 Prop. With the 18 I run 40-42 MPH by GPS at 5500 RPM. With the 20 I run 44-46 MPH by GPS at 5000 RPM. Recently I've been considering getting a "better" prop for my boat. I'm pretty convinced at getting a Mercury prop due to all the good I've read and heard about them. The two props that get mentioned a lot with my boat have been the Tempest Plus and the Mirage Plus. The Tempest seem to be the closest to what I currently run however it goes up one size in pitch and 1/8 inch in diameter. The Mirage has lower pitches, but they come in at about 1/2" larger in size. I know that going up/down in size changes RPM's by about 200, but is the diameter going to make the engine react?? Most of the fishing I do is in the marshes of Louisiana in about 3 ft. of water. Since this is the kind of fishing I do mostly holeshot has to stay respectable. What do you guys think and recommend for this set up?? Another option is bringing one of the props to a shop and let them re-work it. Any thoughts???? Thanks in advance.

Re: Set up

Shep - Check your Suzi manual to find out what the rpm should be at WOT. That is the target to shoot for. I would guess the 18 is just right & best bet is to have it redone.
