The manual says use a gauge, ive heard others say just make the float bowls level upside down. well, i did my carbs and put them at level with the carb body (same plane) and motor starts great, but then putters out it is smokin quite a bit, so i turned the low speed deal clock wise. and turned the throttle stop and the cable trunnion nut some. my butterflies still dont open all the way at full throttle, i suppose i could turn that trunnion nut some more, but i dont have a tach to see where im at.. anyway could setting the floats improperly cause the mix to be way rich?

GREG,<br /> yes setting the floats in correct can make an engine run rich. You did not say what make or size motor. I have found that most manuals give a gauge thicknes for float settings, i have used drill bits of the size indicated as gauges.
