Here's my problem. on the vibration dampener there is a line cut across. on the timing cover there's just a notch. there are no degrees on the timing cover do I just set the cut in notch? I tried to upload a picture but it doesn't seem to want to. Timing supposed to be 10 degrees BTDC

What is the year and serial number of your motor. Depending if you have the TB4 or TB5 ignition, the timing proceedure is different

I'm sorry my dyslexia got the better of me. I typed in the wrong serial number. The correct serial number OM 355225

Gen VI front cover. You need to follow the TBV timing procedure

And use an advance timing light... There is only one notch on the timing cover and one line on the pulley. That's TDC... Use the advance timing light to set it up at 10 BTDC...
