I recently bought a 17' v hull boat and a trailer... The trailer roller system was beyond saving so I went with a bunk system. Wondering if there are guidelines for basic height, width of the bunk rails. Also, I made the bunks 8' long which hold most of the straight surface of the boat.....obviously stern to midway on the hull (8' rails on a 17' hull).... the winch stoppers make solid contact at the bow eye, but is it important for the hull roller to make contact with the bottom, or can I eliminate it all together>? I would have to buy another LONGER one at $35 and would just as soon NOT if its not needed

If you had made the bunks a foot or so longer in front you would be able to throw that annoying little roller away. It looks like an EZ Loader. What is the capacity if that trailer? It looks like the tires are smaller than what might have been on it when new.

Left as is, you'll have a deformed hull at the forward end of the bunks and negative handling experiences.
