How do you set up the throttle cable on a 1972 johnson electric shift 50hp. I need to replace mine completely

Re: setting up throttle cable

Not hard beertech....after the new cable is installed in the box and the box is mounted back in the boat, make sure the control handle is all the way back. At the engine, slip the casing guide hole, that's the black thing on the end of the control cable, over the pin on the engine throttle lever and set the retainer. Make sure the lever is all the way back against the stop. Pull on the throttle cable slightly to remove the slop in the cable and adjust the trunion thumb wheel on the throttle cable for a slightly snug fit in the trunion anchor. Put the trunion anchor retainer on. Should do the trick.

Re: setting up throttle cable

Here;s what I did tell me if its wrong. Put the cable in the control box and snugged it down, The hooked the cable up at the back. and adjusted it so when I put the throttle all the way forward the throttle opens full
