think this is a great site and am trying to learn more about boats,i have recently purchased a 1998 astro 1700dc bass boat with a 115 hp merc.i took it to the lake for it's first run and it didn't want to plane out very well. Secondly, the motor would not open up at wide open throttle only 4200 to 4300 rpm, i know that this boat sat in garage a lot, and i think that carbs are gummed up, so it currently is at shop. after reading some on this forum am wondering if i have wrong setup on boat, it has a merc laser2 prop 22 pitch (sorry, can't remember dia.)
boat is 17 feet in length, seems to be stern heavy, and wants to porpose some, any help appreciated.......

Porpoising is indicative of a stern heavy boat.

Can't say much about the pitch until you get the engine healthy. Let us know how it works once that is done. We'll go from there.
