shaft change yam 3.5hp

hi im new to the site so id just like to say hello to eveyone,


could anyone help? me as ive got two 3.5 yam outboards one is a long shaft witch dosent work and the other is a short shaft is it possable to change the sharfts and how would i do this. one of them also runs fine for about 20 mins then cuts of then if i let it cool down it will start again but only for anther 20 mins bareing in mind its air cooled any info would be great many thanks

some of the smaller enging simply need the water pump removed and the shaft pulls out.

ok thanks the outboards that i have are air cooled and about 10 years old so would that make it any easyer

10 years old ??

The last aircooled 3,5 hp was made in 1980.

Im confused.You have a 3.5 yamaha air cooled???Are you sure it is an air cooled motor
