Does anyone know if it's possible to add this kit to a 1983 mercury 25 ML? It's for a duck boat and we routinely get into shallow water.

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to find another motor 85 and newer had shallow water drive.. A lot of these show up burned up because nobody changes the waterpump in them. Then you just take all the parts and put them on yours it's very possible and a great idea.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the kits are still available reasonably priced which may be easier than finding a burned up motor.

If you can get the kit and it fits your model definitely get it. Be careful of the handle that activates it they break easy.

The shallowater drive kit allows you to run the tilted up through shallow water. On the merc you flip the lever down and a bracket moves into place against the pin to hold the motor up but leaves the water intakes in the water. You can only run at slower throttle setting with it in that position.
