hey guys. newbie here. I have a 1966 starcraft 18ft with a 100 mercruiser with a mc-1 outdrive. i had removed the lower unit to check the water pump and when i put the lower unit back on, it wouldn't go into reverse as it did before i removed lower unit. I jumped online and found out the procedure to put it on correctly. still no reverse. After talking with a couple local shops, i was advised to take the upper sterndrive assembly off and check the set screw on shifter arm. To, make a long story short, the roller on the arm fell off and the arm is no longer available. i have the roller and is in good shape, any ideas how to attach the roller so it will shift into reverse?

Re: shift arm

from my understanding, up to 1970, the shift arm was splined. after that they used shift shaft was changed with the arm.

Ayuh,... That antique pre-dates most anything I work on,...

If it were Me,....
I'd scrounge up later model parts, compare 'em, 'n figure out how to re-engineer it to work...
