Im replacing my 200h.p.1989 yamaha shift and throttle cables. I set the end fittings to the same thread count as before, the forward shift movement feels stiff and the throttle engages quickly ,the engine setting appears good my question is if I adjust the shift setting on my 704 binnacle controls should I expose more or less threads in my adjustment?

Re: shift cable adjustment

for one....which WAY are you wanting to adjust the shift? and two...why would you adjust at shift instead of just having engine in neutral and throttle closed and connecting cables at motor last....that way you can adjust while looking and feeling what you are connecting to...connect helm first then engine....adjust at engine.

Re: shift cable adjustment

Im going from a dual station to single station, the cables ran through a conversion mechanism so the adjustment at the throttle may be different, I would like the shift to engage more gradually ,the adjustment at the engine is o.k.
