OK I have a 87 reinell 192s with an 5.7 omc with a cobra outdrive. i just replaced the oil cooler. Not sure if its a 400 or 800 series outdrive . First time for this season I tried to get her(boat/motor) out on the water today and she gave me a couple of problems.
1st - she would not start which from trying to start killed the battery. Jumped the battery for like 30mins and then she started. (Bought a new battery on the way home today)
2nd - Tried to back the boat off the trailer and it would not move. It just reved up. It would not move forward or reverse. I read most of the post and most of them at least do one or the other. Do not know if that matters?! Yes the boat was unhooked from the trailer. LOL. If i have to replace the shift cable do i have to pull the drive out if so what else should i replace since i have it off.

Thanks for any help or advise.

I don't understand, would the boat not go into gear? If it wouldn't slide off the trailer in reverse, did you have it to far out of the water? Is your trailer a bunk or roller system? If it's a bunk, you can spray down the bunks when the boat is off with WD-40, helps it slide on and off better.

It would not go into gear. I had the boat off the trailer floating in the water. Don't know if it matter but I do remember I didn't have my accessories switch on but the motor start with out it on. Like I said I don't know if it matters just something I remembered.
