Shift Cable Socket

Can anyone tell me if the outside diameter of a shift cable socket is limited. If so, can anyone tell me what the Maximum diameter can be? I'm going to weld two deep sockets together to make a shift cable tool and I'm trying to find out if I need to modify the O.D.

Ayuh,...

I believe the Issue is Length,... Not diameter...

Just don't go overboard with the welding,+ you shouldn't have any problems...

I took an old Craftsman 12 point 9/16" deep well 3/8" drive socket and welded another socket onto the end of it. Works fine. It fits in there with no clearance issues.
