shift control problems

I just replced a broken cable and it worked right for 5 minutes then it wont go in reverse. I disconected the cables but still I cant get it to center so the shift is up where nuetral should be.<br />Any advice on what to do?????

What motor are we talkin'? Are you having someone slowly turn the prop when you try to shift??
