yes its entirly normal. your not shifting correctly. by shifting slowly your damaging the shift clucth and gear assy. that damage is non warrenty due to the customer neglect and abuse part. shift rapidly and firmly. you should hear one solid thunk as the shift engages. so for a noise due to inccorect procedure its normal. kinda like a bearing squealing cause its dry.
