I have a Merc 5.0 with a alpha one gen 2 with the new style button shift interrupt switch........I have searched but could not verify....

Should you be able to physically rotate or ratchet the V plate that activates the button switch if you removed the lower shift cable from the shift plate? I understand in normal operation it should only work when prop is under load just trying to do a little troubleshooting without hauling the boat 30 miles........

Thanks

Interrupter is not working......just figured I would check the movement first, as the boat sat several years before I purchased from PO

yesterday I checked the proper adjustment of the lower shift cable... it was spot on, while I had the cable off I tried to rotate the V plate but it would not move, now I didnt put arm wrestling type pressure on it but thought it shouldnt be that hard...

Thanks guy's... now that I know for sure it can be tested like that, I can dig into it and see why it is frozen.
