I am trying to help a bud out that has a '92 4.3L OMC Cobra I/O with a lower unit completly rebuilt and a new shift cable. The lower unit is clanking, popping, and clunking when engaged but not in neutral. In gear I can see the Interrupt Cam moving, can this be the cause of the clanking and popping. What I think is happening is that the swich is being hit by the cam very briely causing the engine to detune itself, causing the gears to disengage and immediatly reengage. Anybody have any ideas, suggestions, or comments regarding what in the he!! is going on? Thanks in advance!!
