Shift interuptor switch (plate) not moving??

My cut out switch was not working, I replaced the whole shift plate, and now when I shift it in to gear, it goes in gear but the switch does not move. I have a Mercruiser 4.3 w/ alpha 1. It doesn't make any sence to me because everything is working ( in the driveway) but the switch lever is not moving. I can push it up and down by hand. <br />Can someone explain to me how to adjust the the shift cable? (lower cable that goes to the outdrive) From the beginning. PLEASE HELP!!!

Is the boat shifting or not?If everything is set correct,you may not see the cut out switch move,because it doesnt.<br />DHP

with no load on the prop shaft the switch should not move.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Thanks!!! I spent a whole day trying to locate the problem. I put it in the water, it works fine. You guys saved my weekend. Thanks again!
