I have read many of the posts throughout this site, but I am not the most boat/motor savvy and I am still unable to drop the lower unit to replace my impeller. I did remove the clip on the sahft and pushed it, but it still won't release. Can somebody provide me with a more detailed work instruction so my family will be around to enjoy time on the water with me next year? Thank in advance......

Sounds like you are almost there. The rod you took the clip off of has to move to port pretty far. It has to slide past the stainless steel shift rod. Then the LU should be free.

PS - you did remove all the bolts right. There is one under the anode if I recall.

I would highly recommend an OEM service manual if you are going to keep doing your own repairs. There is a ton of information in them.

All bolts are out. Lower unit "hangs" about 1/2" down. I can't seem to push the rod any further. Any suggestions?

Don't know how different my 200 is, but there is a bolt under the front by the steering arm that I had to remove and the rod would slid down, I had to use a 1/4 extension and socket with universal on it, If you remove the lower cowling its easy to get to. The fun part is getting the rod back up into the split in the shifter shaft and getting the bolt back in. It took me a couple of tries. I used some tape on the bolt and socket to hold the bolt until I got the bolt started and then pulled the tape out and tightened the bolt. Again this was on a 89 200.
