just bought (TODAY) a 1987 Ebko Marine Malibu, 16' with 2.5L Mercruiser and Alpha One. Other than new upholstery, I need to replace the shift lever, I have to pull it out from the base to engage throttle only, the button lockout is gone/broken, missing. Also, the neutral position is WAY tilted backward, not straight up. Action is smooth (cables ok, I think), just need a replacement head. HELP! Where do I go, aftermarket, what type, possible to fix, etc.

That's How some of them Work...........

Forward Controls come in a Buzillion Different configurations............
Most can be Mixed & Matched........

Take yours apart....
See if you can Fix it.....
If Not, Start Looking for 1 that'll do what you need it to do.........
You can Probably find New 1s here at iboats Mega Mall..........

BTW,
Welcome to the iboats Forums...............

Re: shift lever problem

thank you Bondo, i have a terrible history of dismantling mechanical items in hopes of improving their operation only to find out that they never operate again. Is the shift lever covered in the engine manual?
