Shift linkage help!

I have a 125 force from around 86. I took the lower unit off to have the skeg rewelded and by accident removed the shift arm pivot pin thinking it was the drain plug. Now as I am reassembling the unit I cannot get the shifter to engage anything. I put the pin back in and it looked like it was correctly going through the shift coupler but when fully installed it will move but not shift in or out of gear. Currently it is stuck between forward and neutral.

Do I have to take the gearcase apart to get this reinstalled properly?? Any help or ideas not involving taking apart the gearcase are appreciated.

Thanks!!

Unfortunatly the drive needs to be disasembled.Get a manual or go to the library. They can get the books you need.
It's not a real hard job.J

I have a manual but they are saying I need bearing pullers. I dont have any. Can it be done without the pullers?
